Purpose: This article provides instructions on how to check if your smartphone is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data. A stable internet connection is crucial for the Onvive Study App to function correctly and sync your progress.
Estimated Completion Time: 1-2 minutes
Steps to Check Wi-Fi Connection:
-
Look at your phone's status bar:
- At the top of your screen, look for the Wi-Fi icon (looks like a curved signal strength indicator). If it's present and shows bars, you are likely connected.
-
Access Wi-Fi settings directly:
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Ensure the Wi-Fi toggle is "On" and that you are connected to a network with a checkmark next to its name.
- Android: Swipe down from the top of your screen. Touch and hold the Wi-Fi icon. Ensure Wi-Fi is "On" and you are connected to a network.
- Test your connection: Open a web browser (like Safari or Chrome) and try to visit a website (e.g., www.google.com). If the website loads, your Wi-Fi connection is working.
Steps to Check Cellular Data Connection:
-
Look at your phone's status bar:
- At the top of your screen, look for cellular signal bars. You should also see indicators like "LTE," "5G," "4G," or "3G" next to the signal bars, which means cellular data is active.
-
Access Cellular Data settings directly:
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Cellular (or "Mobile Data"). Ensure "Cellular Data" is toggled "On." Also check that "Onvive Study App" is allowed to use cellular data in the list below.
- Android: Go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network (or "Cellular data"). Ensure "Mobile data" is "On." Also check "App data usage" or similar to ensure Onvive Study App is allowed to use data.
- Test your connection (with Wi-Fi turned off): Turn off your Wi-Fi connection. Then, open a web browser and try to visit a website. If the website loads, your cellular data connection is working.
